A group of 19 people ranging from university presidents to entrepreneurs have been chosen to serve on the City of Sacramento’s Technology Council – an advisory body geared toward providing input to the Mayor’s Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
Louis Stewart, chief of the mayor’s innovation office, told the Business Journal the group will play an active role in helping provide strategic guidance as the region’s technology sector, referred to as the Sacramento Urban Technology Lab, further evolves.
“The mayor is super jazzed about the opportunity to interface with these kind of thought leaders on a regular basis in Sacramento,” Stewart said. “We truly look forward to helping build Sacramento’s future.”
The group held its first introductory meeting last week, and for now is scheduled to meet quarterly, with the next meeting set for February.
The group’s items of business will include providing input on the city’s Rapid Acceleration, Innovation and Leadership in Sacramento (RAILS) grant program, which is aimed at benefiting entrepreneurs and technology startups.
